This pattern helps to enjoy life and to disassociate oneself away from the unwanted perspectives like hesitation, fear and phobias etc.
In this article I try to make you understand how useful these disassociate and re-associate patterns are in our life and how we can make better use of them and how we can enjoy happiness and keep away unwanted feelings and emotions mentally.
We feel happy or pain because we associate ourselves with our feelings, emotions and experiences, and when we disassociate ourselves from our feelings, emotions, and experiences – we feel neither happiness nor pain.
Just go into the happy moments of your life may be of yesterday or few months or few years older. And now re-live that joyful experience – you were just forgotten yourself and were enjoying that moment with full happiness – how joyful that was! Now make a distance from your feeling and emotions, feel like you are watching a movie from some distances – make yourself an observer of that experience. Now you will find that the joy of your experience is reduced because you separated yourself from this experience.
Recall some unhappy moments may be your fear of the dark, your insult, or some unwanted scenes. I know you will feel unhappy even recalling those moments because you were into your feelings, emotions and experience, you were associated with that. Now do one thing just disassociate yourself – watch your feeling, emotions and experiences from some distance like an observer as you did above. Now you will find your feeling of unhappiness is reduced because you have separated yourself from your emotions and experience.
When you are into your feelings, emotions and experience and feel that this is only you and you do not exist outside – then it is called associate pattern.
When you become an observer and watch your experience, emotions and feelings at some distance like an observer of the movie then it is called disassociate pattern.
I feel if you do this it will help you to maintain peace of mind and can save you from the mood swings. Just associate yourself with what you actually want in your life and disassociate yourself what you don’t want, i.e., associate yourself with happy moments or experiences and disassociate yourself with unhappy moments or experiences.
Great Hindu Scripture like Krishna Gita and Astavakra Gita also elucidate this fact of disassociation, it is called as Sakshi or Witnessing. Even whole Astavakra Gita is based on disassociation. And it is considered the base of spirituality also. But to enjoy life association with happy moments is also good.
