It is said Lord Dattatreya represents to Trinity: Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. And the cow behind him represents to the earth, and the four dogs represent to the four vedas. The famous Avadhuta Gita (based on Advaita) was also sung by Lord Dattatreya which was transcribed by his disciples.
