Why do the Aghoris use Kapal-Patra (skull-cup)?

It looks nauseated when we see a person drinking and eating in the bone of a dead person’s head (skull-cup). It’s somehow terrifying and frightening.

But the Aghoris consider the Kapal-Patra sacred, and live with it. It is said that the Kapal-Patra contains धनञ्जय प्राना (Dhananjaya Prana), which is good for spiritual progress.

    It may be disgustinging for us all. But the true purpose of using the skull cup was to constantly remind them of what become at the end, and the Tibetan Buddhist too had used skull cups to remove egoism by drinking from such skull cups. They generally used the top section monks’ skulls after they are dead and have gone through prayers for the skull.
