Normally we don’t take things back offered to Shivlinga, but here it is Pranava Swarup so Tulsi leaves could also be offered, and part of offered things could be taken back as a Prasada and Charnamrat. People say, here Abhishek on Shivalinga directly reaches to river Nirmada.
When you worship Omkareshwar, you can’t leave Amleshwar; whereas Omkareshwar is Pranav Swarup, Amleshwar is Ling Swarup. Story behind is — once Vindya Parvat (mountain) worshiped Lord Shiva, consequently in a boon, Shiva turned His Omkar linga into two: first became the Pranav Swarup and second became the Linga Swarup.
It is also said, Kuber worshipped Shiva here for one hundred years; and famous fight between Kartavirya Arjuna and Parsuram also happened here.
