Try it! The sound of AUM can be uttered without using the tongue. Even a person who doesn’t have a tongue can utter AUM. This is the sound of existence!

Rudrastakam was written by Goswami Tulsidas for Lord Shiva. Chanting this Rudrastakam helps in the spiritual pursuits, specially when one is devotional to Lord Shiva.

It is said, this Stotram was written by Ravana (a great devotee of Lord Shiva) himself. One who chants this Stotram, gets the grace of Lord Shiva. Though, this Stotram is not easy to chant, but as one learns to chant it; it gives entirely new experience as the entire body starts vibrating.

Another Shvia Tandava, beautifully sung, you can get from here.

Tayatha Om Bekandze
Bekandze Maha Bekandze
Randze Samu-Gate Soha

This mantra chanting itself is very soothing. This mantra is more like a deepest prayer coming from the deepest heart when there are tears in the eyes, pain in the body and no way out to what to do and how to do. It’s like, setting a link with the almighty who can end any kind of the deepest suffering and wound.

Tayatha: means Tathagata, the person who comes and goes, here it is called to lord Buddha.
Om: as everyone knows, sound of the existence, or of the universe.
Bekandze: means to end suffering
Maha: means here, the deepest and greatest
Randze: the great king, as Buddha had been the king
Samgu-Gate:means to the greatest, widest and deepest in all the aspects
Soha: means to offer

Probably, one of you has never tried this way. Repeating a same mantra is called chanting. But, here I want you to have some gap between chantings; I mean, chant a mantra at once, then try to feel it just by subtle intention; if thought come in between, chant the mantra. Then again, feel the mantra by subtle intention.

This might en-thrust in you the power of mantra and the calmness of mind.

Just by digging the mystery of Mantras. I find that the vedic mantras, shabri mantras, etc, are Keelet (something which stops mantra to its power), and to gain full power of a mantra, the Utkeelan is necessary. Durga-SaptSati, a book dedicated to Goddess also talks about Utkeelan, but things aren’t completely clear. I think the jagrat mantras (which one takes from a competant guru) have utkeelan, maybe the reason that’s why they start generating vibrations …

Not only mantras but the yantras are also Keelet, though the yantra like Sri Yantra is not considered Keelet.

If anyone of you, know about Utkeelan, please do share something. Whenever I know about Utkeelan, I’ll update here.

A mantra can be chanted in three ways:

  1. By saying it aloud.
  2. With muted voice, it shouldn’t be audible, but the lips and tongue should move.
  3. Just in the mind, without moving lips and tongue.

Some mantras can be chanted in all the three ways and some in just the third way. So, it is always good to ask a competent guru how to chant a particular mantra.

They are powerful, I’d say very powerful mantras, often used in black magic spells and tantrik activities. Or, to save life from spells. They are often misused mainly by those people, who don’t know about cosmic laws: one law is, what you give to other, it comes back to you in manifolds. The people who indulge themselves using black magic spells for harming others or controlling others, they have to pay heavy price later on, sometimes for several lives.

It is said Shabar mantras are given by Lord Shiva himself … currently I’m finding the “core” source of these mantras and analysing the area of misuing in harming lives, as well as remedy for them. If you have some knowledge about Shabar mantras, do share with me.

It’s always good to play some mantra in everyday life. The great things mantras do is: they make the mood productive, purify energy and transform negative energy into positive one. All the Devi mantras, are the source of great energy and power and considered the most powerful ones.

I just love the way it is sung, you would love it too. One of the soothing and ecstatic compositon. Enjoy!
