HRM: It encompasses everything related to hr; like: recruitment , selection, training & development, rewards, relations, health, safety & welfare, and exit of employees.

HRD: It is a development part of HRM. It includes training and development, performance appraisal, potential appraisal career planning, quality of work lifeĀ  etc.

  • Shirley J. Caruso says:

Human Resource Development Professionals are responsible for encouraging employees to participate in performance management and customer satisfaction. This is accomplished by creating and implementing a system that identifies competencies and established goals, and projects the expected outcome. Establishing a problem solving procedure and setting standards for employee performance are two crucial strategies for the improvement of organization performance.
