10, 11, 12 Jyotirling: Trimbakeshwar, Nageshwar, and Rameshwaram

This jyotirling has many visiting places around — like Panchavati, place from where Ravana kidnapped Sita; Brahmagiri Parvat, and river Godavari. Time to time, famous Kumbha Mela is also celebrated here. It is said, Goutam Rishi did tapasya here, as a result, Godavari orginated from the Parvat. On request of Rishi and River, lord Shiva decided to live there, and known as Trimbakeshwar.

This temple has three Lingas, which respresent, lord Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. It is said, women should not see the whole Lingas, but they can see their Mukuts.

Shri Nageshwar in Gujarat

Story behind this jyotirling is that once a demon kidnapped a Shiva bhakta and wished to kill him. When lord Shiva was called for help, He appeared and killed that demon. And on that Bhakta request, Shiva established Himself there and known as Shri Nageshwar Jyotirling.

Shri Ram Setu Rameshwaram

It is called Rameshwaram, ‘coz lord Rama built it before starting a fight with Ravana. In ancient time this place was known as Gandh Madan Parvat. It is said, if you bring Jaal from Gangotri and offer here at this Jyotirling, then it gives immense Punya.

Nearby this temple, there is another temple which is supposed to be made by lord Hanuman. It is said, before worshiping Rameshwaram temple, one should first worship this temple.
