Posts Tagged ‘Awareness’

The average meaning of ‘awareness’ though is to know something like social awareness, cancer awareness etc., but the spiritual meaning is totally different, it is a state where the thought-filled ocean of infinite waves, becomes restless to restful. It is not exactly concentration but a state where mind is so calm, even the minutest changes within and without get noticed without any slightest effort.

Witnessing thoughts, emotions, breath, sensual and other bodily changes – is one way to activate pure awareness. It needs practice, the consistent practice. But the quickest and easiest way is to have crystal clear understanding, when the thoughts of the mind are solved, the pure awareness comes itself – without any slightest effort.

Living life consciously is the ultimate dream of any spiritual person, when the awareness increases the conscious life also increases — as it transforms unconsciousness into consciousness but to maintain the awareness permanent is the main issue, hope the following could help:

The firmness of “discretion” sets the stability of awareness, a stable awareness is transformatory, e.g., of watching thoughts or of watching incoming and outgoing breath, it transforms all the unconsciousness … it transforms all the tendencies into conscious actions. And whether the discretion is firm or not is set by the intensity of “longing,” the seed comes from the longing. The discretion plants it and the awareness makes it grow.

We sometimes wonder or jealous to become like someone we admire — whether it is a spiritual guru, some angel or other person of our dream.

And most of us think about their good luck, destiny or say whatever…their good karmas, etc., for their success, and think they got everything so easily, in short span of time. But this is not the fact, we miss the work that they have done behind the curtains.

For instance, if we take a spiritual guru and think for a moment what work they’ve done to speak with such insight and profoundness — we find he must have studied and worked a lot understanding humans, psychology, life, relations, society, metaphysics and things of beyond the mind. It takes years of work in those things with dedicated efforts and all he energy into them. And when they ripe, they fall as a gift to the humanity.

He was a simple man, and a great enlightened master; lived like an ordinary man having family, running a shop and solving the seekers problem whosoever went to him. His talks were clear, profound, practical and enlightening. Even his books those are his recorded conversations show the light and solve the mystery of spiritual path and other life’s issues. Below are some of those:

Either trust or inquire
Trust is the shortcut way of spiritual progress, if one can and live upon it. Or, if one can not trust, inquiry is another way. He says,”Inquire what you are not! Discover all that you are not including body, mind, feelings, emotions, thoughts, ideas, time and space … etc.” Anyone, either trust or inquiry. Or both can show the light in the fastest way.

Awareness and consciousness
As we talk about improving and maintaining consciousness; he talks more advance than this. Whatever type of consciousness while waking, sleeping or dreaming, or un-consciousness we feel – everything happens within “awareness.” We each one are the awareness that never increases or decreases, that remains same ever, because everything is inside it, it is the source of everything. In Bhagawat Gita Krishna called it “Atman,” the soul. And Upanishads say it Brahman.

Static and dynamic consciousness

Guru says — no panic please! It is the easiest thing to get and hardest thing to think and to do. It is neither in thinking nor in doing – it is effortless. It is not a sweet that you will eat, nor an object you will get hold of, nor a destination you will reach there. All efforts are useless!

Libration is not external, that you are librated from some cage or cave, it is internal, totally! Are you getting confused or knowing something? Ok! Carry on…

When libration comes?

You may call it enlightenment, self realization, godhood, divinity or anything you like. Libration only comes when you are able to understand yourself, i.e., your memory, your thinking, your emotions, your behavior and all the grossest and subtlest elements of yourself. When you understand them, how they begin, how they are created, how they come in process, how they are being left incomplete and how they end – you will automatically start losing what is not worth for, and become tranquil with the deepest sense of understanding, with the clarity of your inner world. Now, let me whisper in your ear – the clarity of inner world is "libration." It is never outside, it is inside, totally.

When the gravitational force between a person and the earth decreases a person can walk like feather touching the ground. In ancient time, Indian Yogis used to fly in the sky, because they knew the way to control the gravitational force. But, we can walk like ‘feather touching the ground’ easily.

Purity of mind and body decreases the gravitational force, but a simple exercise that I’m going to tell you gives the astonishing result. It is to travel inside the body from head to foot and from foot to head, the more you travel the more you feel lighter. How it happens, I don’t know. But, it works like miracle. For travelling inside the body, we just need to close our eyes and to go within each part of the body from head to foot and foot to head.

Highest number of people got self-realization with this technique rather than other meditation techniques. This technique isn’t based on Mantra, Tantra and Yantra; it is coming from — during the time of Gautama Buddha.

A large number of people, from all over the world practice Vipassana – even most of the celebrities also do it. The guys behind Vipassana are so smart, they never publicize it for commercial gain – and the people who come in Vipassana are never asked for “money.” If the people give by their will or choices then it is another matter, but here it is not like only if you are rich you can do it, and if poor you can’t do it – everyone is welcomed!

I think it is better to talk about Gautama Buddha a bit. He was a king; he left his wife, son and palace to search “the truth of life.” For several years, he kept on going to contemporary gurus and he learned all the techniques and spiritual powers (Riddhis & Siddhis) available at that time – but he remained unsatisfied. Later on, he left every meditation techniques and all the belief systems learned from the Gurus and started looking into life – as it is, without any projection of the mind. Just by looking the life as the way it is – he got self-realization.

Vipassana means

It means to look oneself, as one is – without giving a thought, idea or label. It means to witness the thoughts, the emotions – as it is. And, just by looking and witnessing, the truth manifests.

"One must observe what one thinks, feels and does from moment to moment, that is actual, any other action, any idea or ideological action is not actual; it is merely a wish, a fictitious desire to be something other than what is," says J. Krishnamurti.

How simple is that! Isn’t it? But we need an idea an ideology because we need escape from our lives, and when we escape, we forget to observe ourselves. One thing is possible at a time, either to be in oneself or into some ideology.

How to understand who am I?

Unless we observe ourselves then how can we understand who we are?

The interest

It is more necessary rather than doing things due to escape or due to fear of something. When we are interested, our mind is so sensitive, it becomes silent to feel the experience and when we are not interested, all the escapes and fears (to find out the truth) can’t set the mind silent.

The process

Somebody asked me “Is spirituality possible without a Guru?” I asked “What do you mean by a Guru?” He remained silent and then spoke that Guru is one, who shows the way to God, he further spoke that there are so many Gurus and so many ways reaching to God; is God too hard to get? I asked “Who told you God is hard to get?” He said “Gurus told so.” I asked “Who told Gurus?” He said “I don’t know.”

I said “Why don’t you believe that ‘you don’t know’ and start exploring yourself?”

He said “It is risky and I’ve a wife, children and lots of responsibilities, I need short-cuts, what I can give is money and little time else I have nothing to give.”

I said “If I tell you something, would you believe?”

He said “let’s see!”

And I continued…

“There was a time, when people were God like, it was called Golden Age, a heaven, everyone aspires for and wants to live there. Golden age was at this Earth, where you are living now, everything was based on purity, not even 99% purity; it was 100% purity. Years passed, times changed people fallen down from purity, there was no name of God anywhere, but people knew their ancestors were 100% pure, they started worshipping them, hundreds and thousands of God have been created, and their faith in ancestors started giving them peace of mind. The people who started worshipping ancestors first were known as the greatest Gurus, and this trend is still today.”

He said “I don’t believe you.”

Buddha said life is suffering, life means sufferings; he said we suffer because we desire and we attach, and there is way out to "end suffering," it is to practice eight fold paths. This is a formula what Buddha said, if you understand it, it can end your sufferings.

Buddha said life is suffering and life means suffering.

I beg your pardon; you cannot read it as it is written, make a round around it and see it from every angle. Life is not suffering, but Buddha said life is "suffering" because people have fallen down from purity – and life became sufferings. A semi-pure and impure person is bound to suffer.

Buddha said we suffer because we desire and we attach.

An impure and semi-pure person is bound to desire and attach, when purity comes desire and attachment also end.

Buddha said to end suffering it is to practice eight fold paths.

Eight fold paths are nothing but to practice purity through right: view, intention, speech, action, livelihood, efforts, mindfulness and concentration.

Linking with three qualities of life.

See, everything goes through three phases: one is pure, second is semi-pure and third is impure. In Hindi, they are Satvik, Rajasik and Tamasik. And, this is also true for a soul, initially a soul is pure…but while taking birth and rebirth qualities of a soul decreases and slowly-slowly a soul becomes semi-pure and later on after some births becomes impure. The four noble truths and eight fold paths are nothing but to take our purity back.

A soul changes bodies from one life to another, and mind, intellect and resolves are merged in a soul; that also go with a soul from one life to another. That’s why through some meditations and techniques we can travel back to past life, Gautama Buddha also did it, and he saw all his past lives.

Try to understand it, what is written, I think if I extend this article it will become bullshit as what have happened to our scriptures, people have installed in them false stories and false meanings to ingratiate their commercial purposes.
