The people who are able to know other spiritual masters coming out of their mental boxes are really fortunate. When we think we just know the best, we are the best then the people who preserve the “best,” start manipulating. And in the name of that “best,” all sorts of the games of the mind start with all the pursuits and strategies. Just know your religion and scriptures and don’t look elsewhere; isn’t it the bullshit? Anyway, here in this blog we talk about every master and every guru, possible. We aren’t the part of any bullshit. Right!
Today, Zen master Shunryu Suzuki is with us, let’s have a look about few things today what exactly he has said about the mind.
“In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.
… So in our practice it is important to resume to our original mind, or inmost mind, which we, ourselves — even we, ourselves do not know what it is. This is the most important thing for us. The founder of our school emphasized this point. We have to remain always beginner’s mind. This is the secret of Zen, and secret of various practices — practice of flower arrangement, practice of Japanese singing, and various art.”
- Shunryu Suzuki
So, what is the beginner’s mind? And, what is the expert’s mind? Read More »

"To look was enough. And what I found was khaki trouserlegs terminating downwards in a pair of brown shoes, khaki sleeves terminating sideways in a pair of pink hands, and a khaki shirtfront terminating upwards in—absolutely nothing whatever! Certainly not in a head." – Douglas E. Harding.
This site headless.org, has some experiments, currently led by Richard Lang, if you didn’t know them before … it would be interesting to know them, and equally interesting is to read the biography of Douglas E. Harding, the above paragraph is an excerpt from that. Stay-tune, to headless way.
The "Doing" implies an effort to the body and mind; in a meditation when we ask our mind to follow certain procedure to reach somewhere or to get something – it is "Doing" meditation, effort oriented. The "Being" meditation happens automatically, with slightest of no idea that we are doing meditation. It is totally effortless. It is like when a fruit is ripened and now it is going to fall.
Some people, advocate only to "Being" meditation and neglect "Doing" meditation. Like, they often say that it is only the "mind" that is doing all the stuff, and the meditation is not the thing to catch hold of. But they forget the people to whom the "Being" meditation come naturally, have done "Doing" meditation a lot. Nothing comes without experience, isn’t it? And, there is no problem, to leave the things which don’t work and to have the things which work.
You are the creator of naught ("0"), you are all pervading, you can’t create, everything is within you – you are the supreme. You are the awareness! You are not the consciousness or unconsciousness. You are not the mind, you are not the thoughts. Your mind creates, it is voracious animal, and it needs everything. When you say, "you are the creator of your destiny," you never say, "your mind says." You live in your mind, so you think your mind is right. Wake up! You are not the mind, you are already in abundance of everything – you, yourself are Guru, God and everything, where have you lost? Don’t claim your destiny that your mind creates. Claim your reality, now!
All is one! But you don’t know, how it is one?
Awareness is everywhere, it is non-dual, pure, fresh, and alive – it is you. Call is God, Brahma or anything. The waking, dreaming and sleeping are the variation of consciousness; it comes along with the physical body, and goes when physical body is dead. All states of consciousness are in "awareness," like: in deep sleep you remain unconscious, but the awareness takes care of you, you are not dead. And mind and body are in consciousness. Consciousness drives them.
So awareness drives consciousness and consciousness drives mind and body.
The word "Mahavira," means great hero, he was born to King Siddartha and Queen Trishala and was known as "Vardhaman," but due to his extraordinary efforts, he was called — Mahavira. His physical life span is supposed to spread between 599BC to 527BC, and he was known with various names like: Vira, Viraprabhu, Sanmati, Ativira and Gnatputra, etc.
He lived as a prince, but around the age of thirty (30), in search of truth, he gave up everything, his kingdom, family and even to his clothes also, and started meditating and searching truth, by following various practices, e.g., mainly of harmlessness to everything. And, later on he got what he was seeking for.
The word "Dalai" means Ocean and "Lama" means a Guru, a Teacher or a Priest. So the "Dalai Lama" is title for a spiritual person, dedicated to spiritual awareness and well being of the entire humanity.
His Holiness, Tenzin Gyatso (full name: Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso) is the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet. Please, watch the following video, where he is speaking on Science, Spirituality and Education (after 1 min, he starts speaking in English). Guru says, thoughts arise due to psychological identification of "subject" with "object," the subject is "I," the consciousness and the object is the body. If you think you are the body. Thoughts are bound to arise, not several but hundreds and thousands of.
When you break the psychological identification of "subject" with "object," – only subject remains, and thoughts fall down like an uprooted tree.
Did you get it?
Sadhu is a person who follows the path of God realization thru self realization. A Sadhu can be called as Sanyasi, Baba, or Mahatma – these are spiritual words, the word Baba can be used in spiritual or in normal course of life. If, Guru says, Deepak Chopra is a Sadhu, you might get shocked that he doesn’t live in cave and doesn’t have long beard and red dress.
A Sadhu can have red dress & long beard, but this is not the main requirement to call as a Sadhu, this is exterior. A Sadhu can be with or without a particular dress; the path, where Sadhu moves on and on, belongs to self-transformation thru the practice of Yoga, Meditation (Dhyan), Mantra, Ritual, Scriptures and various things.
Sadhus and Begging
Guru has met to some Sadhus (who wear red clothes and live in secluded places), and finds: due to lack of money they remain hungry for several days – unless somebody gives them something to eat. Generally, Sadhus don’t beg money, but due to lack of it, they go through excruciating physical sufferings.
Sadhus and Money
If you are looking for some of the top spiritual gurus or for the greatest spiritual teachings for getting peace of mind and bliss in your life, before going anywhere I would like you to have a look for three of them.
Three of them tell "what is now," only talk about practicality of life. No one gives any set of patterns, ritual, mantra or belief system to condition your mind, and also no one provokes to make a group; they respect your individuality, they just help to make you realize what you are.
I practiced Vipassana, and I read deeply both Astavakra Gita and Jiddu Krishnamurti. You know, the Astavakra Gita is one of the greatest Hindu Scripture about which nobody talks about as people talk about Bhagavad Gita, Purans and other Scriptures; because in Astavakra Gita everything is accurate, direct and clear – it leaves no scope to make stories or to make double meaning out of it. And, this scripture is capable to pack-up the commercial empire of commercial gurus – so they are afraid of this scripture.
The similarity among three of them, I find is:
